Recitation Leader Application


Duties of a recitation leader will include a combination of tasks:

  • Will require attendance at the main lecture class
    • May include assisting instructor in class
    • May include “setting up” the technology before class and “taking down” the technology after class
    • May include helping to coordinate group activities
    • May include supervising quizzes and exams
    • May include proctoring quizzes and exams outside of the normal scheduled time
  • Will require leading recitation section sessions as scheduled
    • May include going over homework assignments (therefore, personally having completed the homework prior to the recitation is critical)
    • May include reviewing lecture material
    • May include supervising group projects or recitation activities
    • May include proctoring quizzes and exams
    • May include substituting for others
  • Will require holding 2 office hours per week in ANSC 220, assisting students from your section and any courses in which you are competent
    • May include answering emails, helping students over email with questions on homework problems or concepts.
  • Will require grading
    • May include homework, quizzes, exams and other assignments as required by instructor
  • Will require coordination meetings with the instructor for orientation, teacher trainings, training for recitation responsibilities and activities, etc.
    • Reading and responding to any communications with the instructor (including emails, etc) will be required.

The above list is a guideline, the exact requirements of the recitation section you are applying for is dependent on the instructor of the main lecture class.

Recitation leaders are paid at a rate of $1,500 a semester per recitation section. This amount is broken down into bi-weekly payments.

Indicate the specific recitations you are comfortable teaching and can fit into your schedule.
